If you want usage-based billing instead of a flat monthly fee (common for teams or heavier automated workflows), you fund a Console account with prepaid credits and Claude Code draws from that balance.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As of writing, Anthropic&#8217;s individual plans price at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Pro:<\/strong> $17\/month billed annually ($200 up front), or $20\/month billed monthly<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Max:<\/strong> from $100\/month<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Team:<\/strong> $20\/seat\/month billed annually ($25\/month), with a $100\/seat premium tier<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prices are in USD and can change; check <a href=\"https:\/\/claude.com\/pricing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">claude.com\/pricing<\/a> for the current numbers before you commit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why your Ugandan card gets declined<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having a Visa or Mastercard doesn&#8217;t guarantee it&#8217;ll work at Claude&#8217;s checkout. A few things commonly go wrong:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>International restrictions.<\/strong> Some Ugandan bank and mobile-money cards are issued primarily for local spending and block or flag foreign merchant charges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Recurring billing.<\/strong> A card can process a one-off international payment fine and still fail on a subscription, because recurring charges get flagged differently by card networks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>3D Secure mismatches.<\/strong> Claude&#8217;s checkout runs authentication that some virtual and prepaid cards aren&#8217;t set up to complete.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Card class.<\/strong> Prepaid and some virtual debit cards get blocked outright by certain merchants&#8217; fraud checks, regardless of balance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you&#8217;ve seen a decline with funds clearly available, it&#8217;s almost always one of these, not a mistake on your end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can you pay for Claude with MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not directly. Claude&#8217;s checkout takes a card, not a mobile money number, so MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money aren&#8217;t payment options by themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What you <em>can<\/em> do is use them to fund a card that Claude&#8217;s checkout will accept:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>MTN MoMo Card<\/strong> is a virtual Mastercard linked to your MoMo wallet. It works for a lot of online spending, but recurring international subscriptions are exactly the use case where mobile-money-linked cards run into the restrictions above; test it before relying on it for a renewing subscription.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Airtel virtual Mastercard<\/strong> works similarly: created from your Airtel Money balance, useful for general online payments, but not built specifically for recurring international billing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If either works for you, great, that&#8217;s the simplest path. If Claude declines it (especially on renewal), the fix is the same as for a bank card: <a href=\"https:\/\/evertry.co\/virtual-card\/uganda\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/evertry.co\/virtual-card\/uganda\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">an internationally enabled USD virtual card<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other Uganda-active options<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few other platforms Ugandans use for international payments are worth knowing about, without picking a winner for you:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Eversend<\/strong> and <strong>Chipper Cash<\/strong> both offer virtual cards usable for international subscriptions, funded from a Uganda-based wallet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>A USD virtual card from a dedicated card issuer<\/strong>: this is the category built specifically to solve recurring, international, Stripe-processed billing, which is exactly what Claude uses.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">None of these are guaranteed to work with every merchant every time; card networks and fraud rules change.
